Music will soothe your pre-tryouts soul: A playlist to calm hockey parents' nerves
If I had a nervousness barometer to the DMs I've been receiving lately, it's be hitting a hot 10 on the 1-10 scale right now. Parents are nervous, I get it. Where your kids land next year will play a major role in your family's dynamics starting in September and running through the next seven months. It will also arguably play a role in their youth career paths.
The bottom line is this: we need to find ways to manage all this stress.
Researchers at Stanford University found that "listening to music seems to be able to change brain functioning to the same extent as medication." They rightfully noted that music is something that almost anybody can access and makes it an easy stress reduction tool.
They're not wrong. I love music and it affects me in both directions - it can hype me up or calm me down.
For this, I asked the @fortheloveofhockey11 IG community to help me create a soothing playlist. The resulting Spotify playlist gets the job done and can be accessed here.
I'll be playing it in the car on my way to the rink tonight - and yes, I'll be driving separately from Jack and the kids as they will be blasting hype up songs 😀.
What are you listening to these days?
P.S. If you need something a little faster, the FTLOH hype up playlist can be accessed here.
